ReCon: The future of academia is collaborative

Hi I'm Erin!

I'm a first year PhD student at the University of Alberta and my research interests include the intersections between social media, sport, online communities and gender. As an incoming student in 2018, ReCon provided me with the opportunity to network and create new friendships in a welcoming environment.

Why support ReCon?

ReCon serves as an invaluable opportunity for students to connect with each other and faculty.  Supporting ReCon means supporting students. By providing students with support, you are investing in the future of your communities.

Kinesiology, sport and recreation is a vast and interdisciplinary field. We have researchers working in sport history, exercise physiology, sociocultural studies, coaching, nutrition, sport psychology and so much more. ReCon is an amazing opportunity for collaboration that helps bridge the gaps between disciplines, allowing us to network and form new relationships. This helps us to broaden our perspectives as researchers to ultimately produce innovative research with nuanced perspectives.
